The Foreign Ministry accused Kyiv of trying to disrupt the trip of the IAEA mission to the ZNPP

MOSCOW, August 26 – PRIME. The Kyiv authorities are doing everything to make it impossible for the IAEA mission to visit the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, but these calculations are unlikely to come true, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The report emphasizes that Russia is doing everything possible to implement the trip of IAEA specialists to ZNPP as soon as possible.

“The Russian side is doing everything necessary to ensure that the international IAEA mission at the ZNPP takes place, runs in a safe mode and is able to achieve all its goals. The main thing is to stop the nuclear arbitrariness on the part of the regime of Vladimir Zelensky and put an end to the shelling of the station, ensuring its further safe operation” , the message says.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that in the current situation, the IAEA trip is becoming much more relevant due to the increased shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“This is becoming increasingly relevant given the fact that Ukrainian troops are now inflicting new strikes on the Zaporizhzhya NPP, including hitting the spent nuclear fuel storage area. It turns out that the Kyiv regime continues to do everything to disrupt the IAEA trip to the facility. These calculations will not be justified,” the Russian Foreign Ministry assured.

ZNPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity. Since March, it has been guarded by the Russian military to prevent leaks of nuclear and radioactive materials. The Ukrainian military continues to regularly shell Energodar, the surrounding villages and the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant adjacent to the city.
