The money comes from the Ponzi OneCoin scheme

The New York court has continued a lawsuit against David Pike, accused of money laundering from the Ponzi OneCoin scheme. The next appearance in the trial will take place on January 12, 2020.

Pike was the director of a private equity fund known as the “Fenero Funds”. This fund was used to launder money from the Ponzi OneCoin scheme.

Pike is accused of making false statements to FBI agents, the Criminal Investigation Division and the prosecution. He claimed that he did not know that about $ 400 million transferred to the Fenero fund belongs to OneCoin founder Ruja Ignatova. In total, the OneCoin scam has managed to raise over $ 4 billion worldwide. Pike said he did not want the money redistributed by him from illegal activities.

His claims are about to be proven false by investigators, with the help of other witnesses in the trial.

In addition to Pike, the court found money-laundering lawyer Mark Scott in connection with OneCoin. Scott created a series of fake companies, offshore accounts and other fraudulent methods to launder funds on Ignatova’s behalf between the end of 2015 and the middle of 2017. He obtained about 50 million from this process. Scott is currently facing a sentence of up to 50 years in prison and is awaiting sentencing.

Rujei Ignatova’s brother, Konstantin, has also been arrested and is collaborating with authorities to obtain an easier sentence.

This month, the official OneCoin website was finally suspended, two years after the official scam was discovered.

And in Romania, the OneCoin ponzi scheme is under investigation. Inspectors of the National Agency for Tax Administration ANAF identified a damage of 1.94 million lei caused by OneCoin.
