The Razer Basilisk V3 and DeathAdder Essential Receive ECOLOGO Certification

Razer announced that his Basilisk V3 y DeathAdder Essential they have become the first gaming mice in the world to receive the certificate ECOLOGO. This implies that they have exceeded the standards UL2710, a research scheme for sustainability in wearable electronics, which certifies them as sustainable products. This announcement comes right on World Environment Day.

Razer has undergone this certification process to assure consumers and fans that its best-selling mice meet the industry’s strictest environmental performance standards. The ECOLOGO® label logo signifies that the products have been evaluated by an independent, scientific, third-party body and are aligned with Razer’s goals of being transparent with the community.

The fact that Razer has the first ECOLOGO certified gaming mice is a tribute to the brand’s commitment to making products greener, which is also an important pillar in its 10-year sustainability plan under the name #GoGreenWithRazer.

Razer chose these mice not only because they are best sellers, but also because they are more accessible by allowing gamers to make choices based on sustainability. To certify both products with the ECOLOGO® label, UL analyzed several sustainability criteria. They tested the mice for compliance with EU restricted chemical substances regulations, and also tested for skin irritation and sensitization. UL also evaluated Razer’s repair and replacement management process, from how easy it is to disassemble the product by authorized service providers, to how Razer communicates that components that require selective waste treatment to service providers services.

Sustainable packaging is another criteria the mice met, as they are packaged with FSC-certified materials, free of heavy metals and chlorine, and printed in sustainable soy ink so they can be easily recycled.

Finally, UL also inspected Razer facilities to certify that the mice were manufactured in facilities committed to responsible environmental stewardship, as evidenced by ISO 14001 certification.

“What better way to celebrate World Environment Day than to share with our community that the same mice that help us win games are also a victory for the environment,” said Kenneth Ng, Razer Chief Sustainability Officer.

“Unlike companies that claim their products are sustainable, we go the extra mile to prove to fans and consumers that our products are truly sustainable. Our gaming community can now ensure that their favorite mice have been thoroughly vetted by a trusted scientific organization that reviewed a comprehensive list of criteria for ECOLOGO® certification.”

“By using the ECOLOGO® label, companies like Razer can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and a cleaner environment through credible third-party review and certification and one of the most trusted eco-label programs in the world. ,” stated Doug Lockard, vice president and general manager of retail power sales for consumer products at UL.

“Eco-labels such as ECOLOGO® Certification, UL GREENGUARD Certification, environmental product declarations, or validation of environmental claims can help consumers make informed purchasing decisions and select products with desired environmental and sustainability attributes.”
