US Air Force uses SIMBA blockchain to track its supply chain

The U.S. Air Force has entered into an agreement with SIMBA Chain startup, under which the blockchain developed by the company will be used to ensure the security of supply chains.

The press release said that long value chains are a security issue, “especially important in the military industry, where hostile structures are trying to obtain or modify critical data.”

The goal of the project is to track the production process of spare parts for equipment using the blockchain. Now SIMBA Chain is working on creating a blockchain in which components and spare parts for military equipment will be recorded and tracked throughout their entire life cycle.

Blockchain should help in creating such a system, because thanks to this technology “third parties will not be able to intervene in the process of repairing vehicles, since secret plans for 3D-printing of spare parts can be transferred to the battlefield without the participation of third-party organizations.”

It is also reported that for its project SIMBA Chain uses the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, as it is “reliable and trusted, which are key factors on the battlefield.”

Note that at the end of last year, the Air Force Institute (AFIT), a special educational institution of the US Air Force, launched a training site to demonstrate the capabilities of the blockchain.
