A real space deer in the test: space and cooling for enthusiasts in the Paean Premium by Raijintek | Part 1

The Raijintek Paean Premium is a new enthusiast case especially when it comes to custom water cooling. Because this is exactly where this case is best positioned and offers an excellent alternative to the O11 Dynamic XL from Lian Li. With a current price of € 249.90, it is € 30 more expensive than the O11 Dynamic XL but offers significantly more space, features, airflow and it is made of high-quality, solid aluminum. Solid aluminum cup instead of tinplate can.

Today’s first part shows you the housing of the first revision in detail, whereby a complete water cooling is installed in the following part 2. But this project is still going on and I am already busy documenting everything. But it would be too much for a single article and I’ll just split the whole thing up. Today the appetite is whetted first, the next time comes the main course with calorie bomber and water.

prehistory

A few days ago, after many problems with GLS, I finally got the new Paean Premium from Raijintek. Actually, I hadn’t even expected it until recently the doorbell rang and an elderly man who lives 50 km away from me finally brought the case to me. Yes, you read that correctly, the Paean Premium was delivered 50 km further! Or better: parked carelessly somewhere. Oh well.

In today’s tracking world, that would theoretically be absurd, but it’s not that rare. At this point I would like to personally thank the nice gentleman who took this trip on himself and of course I took over the costs for the journey, unfortunately such a favor is no longer a matter of course. Weg is actually gone permanently, because you already know: This is exactly what eBay classifieds seem to have been invented for.

scope of delivery

Raijintek sends the Paean Premium in a simple, brown box with a picture of the case – nothing more can be seen from the outside. Inside the case, as usual, is packed well protected with 2 polystyrene blocks and a film. In the case itself there is an accessory box with various spacers, cable ties and screws, that’s it, but it is completely sufficient. At 13.10 kg, the Paean Premium is definitely not a lightweight and with 2 panes of glass and the massive material thickness, it comes together quite a bit. But more on that in a moment.

Unboxing and technical data

Let’s move on to the bare numbers. The dimensions of the Paean are 310 mm x 648 mm x 451 mm (W x H x D) and there is plenty of space for real custom water cooling. Well, even the longest graphics cards should definitely find their place here. As already mentioned, the case weighs a whopping 13.10 kg, although it is made entirely of aluminum.

This is probably due to the massive material thickness of 2 mm (picture above9 and the two thick glass plates, each 4 mm thick.

In the I / O panel in the front we have the on / off button as well as the connections for 2x USB 3.0, 1x HD audio and, as it should be, a USB Type C. An HDD / power LED was also built in. So everything fits.

Now we come to what absolutely distinguishes this housing, according to the manufacturer, up to 3 x 360 mm radiators are possible, two of which can be installed separately from the rest in the lower chamber and one in the lid of the housing. But if you take a closer look, you will see that 3 more radiators can be installed in the back wall next to the mainboard with a length of up to 360 mm in the rear part of the housing a 120 mm or 140 mm radiator and on the floor directly in front of the mainboard a 240 mm radiator. That makes a total of six radiators.

Either 2x 3.5 HDDs or 2.5 SSDs can be installed in the rear chamber and our power supply unit with the usual standard dimensions can also be found in the chamber.

And for the curious among you, as usual, the data sheet (uncorrected original):
