The state-controlled Turkish company Turkish Aerospace Industries announced in a promotional brochure that it has developed an innovative supersonic drone designed to serve as an aerial training target. This is the so-called target drone, and the one above is another Turkish drone – Bayraktar TB2.
According to the information provided, this supersonic drone in the form of a training air target is part of the SIMSEK High Speed Target Drone project. It is 3 meters long and is equipped with a turbojet engine which allows it to fly at the speed of sound (and faster).

Currently, this air training target is undergoing flight testing. In practice, usually remotely controlled drones of this type have long been used during exercises as an imitation of an enemy airborne target. We know that the Turkish work with an undefined name will be used in electronic attack, electronic support and decoy missions. As far as we know, its final version will be launched from drones or airplanes and will be controlled by the Anka and Aksungur ground stations.
