AMD gives a taste of the Radeon RX 6000 – the new cooler is shown in the picture

When Nvidia’s major unveiling of the Geforce RTX 3000 series was approaching, the company chose to present the cooling solution in advance. The idea of the prank was probably to give the new solution its own attention so that it would not drown in the sea of news unveiled in connection with the big launch event, and AMD now chooses to take inspiration from the competitor’s strategy.

In a Twitter posts on the company’s Radeon account, a picture is published of a graphics card from the Radeon RX 6000 series, with the architecture RDNA 2 under the hood. The post does not mention any details about which model it is about, but since the cooler is equipped with three fans and power is supplied via two 8-pin PCI Express connectors, it is probably a performance model.

The flagship model in the Radeon RX 6000 series is the so-called “Big Navi” circuit, which according to previous leaks will be equipped with as many as 80 computing units (CU) which together house as many as 5,120 stream processors. For comparison, AMD’s current top model Radeon RX 5700 XT is equipped with 40 CU units and 2,560 stream processors, while the architecture is RDNA 1.0 “Navi”.

The actual circuit in the “Big Navi” is also expected to justify the code name with a reported circuit area of 505 mm², compared to 251 mm² for the Navi 10 circuit in the Radeon RX 5700 XT. Those who are more curious about the Radeon RX 6000 series’ new cooler can view it from more angles in the game Fortnite, where AMD shows the cooler solution on the company’s own virtual island.

What do you think of the new design? What do you think about AMD’s chances in the competition with the mammoth specifications of Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 3000 graphics card?
