AMD improves its Wraith Prism heatsink with two more heat pipes

So far, the Wraith Prism series heatsink is the highest-end of this family of heatsinks that AMD includes along with its Ryzen processors, but in this case (the Prism version) only comes with the Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9, and not with the previous ones.

The current heatsink has four heat pipes that they make direct contact with the processor's IHS and that they cool these processors in a fairly dignified manner so that they operate at acceptable temperatures; however, now processors like the Ryzen 9 3900X they have seen their TDP raised to 105W and, it seems, these current Wraith Prism became insufficient as they have been sighted Wraith Prism with two extra heat pipes, and if they are designed for these Ryzen 9 it means that at least Its heat dissipation capacity is 105W.

AMD doesn't want us to spend money on another heatsink

Processor manufacturers traditionally give two options when selling them: with and without a heatsink. Intel's heatsink solution has been shown to be insufficient to be able to service its heatsinks, and yet since AMD began using these Wraith from those AMD FX things changed, since they not only proved to have a decent performance but also they are much quieter than those of the competition to the point that many users no longer buy a separate heatsink to cool your AMD processors.

With this line of thought, now it seems that AMD has updated its Wraith Prism heatsinks so that users can continue to use their most “greedy” processors without having to buy a separate heatsink. It was the Chinese medium XFastest who discovered that with the new generation of Ryzen 9 processors of the brand, Wraith Prism heatsink now comes with six heat pipes instead of four, improving its cooling capacity to at least the 105W of TDP that these processors have.

In terms of design, this new Wraith Prism looks exactly like the previous version (you can see it in the images comparing both versions) with the only caveat that it has two more heat pipes. In fact, even at the base that was already oversized in the previous version (partly for the TR4 sockets of the brand) it is the same, and they have simply exchanged those extra copper pieces for the surface of the heat pipes.

So, as usual in AMD and that is why it is so appreciated by users, the price is maintained, the design is maintained, but its performance is improved. No doubt great news for all those users who want use the stock sink It comes with the processor instead of having to buy a separate one, having to invest more money from the account.
