AMD launches Radeon RX 500X series for prefabricated systems

Since AMD launched its new graphics architecture Vega in 2017, the news in the graphics card market has shone with its absence. There has been talk lately of the new Radeon RX 500X series from the company, which is expected to be a refresh of the RX 500 series.

With the launch of new notebook laptops from HP, AMD now officially introduces the new product line and announces that these will only be available to manufacturers of prefabricated systems. They also confirm that the new graphics cards only differ in name, and these are exactly the same circuits as the RX 500.

The Radeon RX 500X series graphics cards is a brand refresh for 2018 OEM platforms that ensures Radeon RX 500 series cards are using the latest ‘Polaris’ architecture-based hardware and driver revisions (Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition) for 2018.

For PCWorld, an AMD spokesperson says that the name change is only made so that manufacturers can market their computers with features introduced with the Radeon Software Adrenaline Edition.

As previously reported, these are the Radeon RX 580X, RX 570X, RX 560X, RX 540X and RX 550X models that are now released. These are expected to be available soon with the launch of new laptops, including models in HP’s Pavilion Gaming series.
