AMD Radeon HD 7790 supports Trueaudio with upcoming driver

For the day, the spotlight is on the recently launched Radeon 200 series, which covers everything from entry-level models to the performance-oriented models that have passed SweClocker’s test lab. Another news is that the six-month-old Radeon HD 7790 will be updated with a new driver in the near future.

Like the recently launched R7 260X, the AMD Radeon HD 7790 is based on the Bonaire graphics circuit and the only difference between the two is the clock frequencies. This means that the Radeon HD 7790 is supported by the increased flexibility in Eyefinity, where up to three screens can be connected with optional video connections. The other joker is that support for the company’s new Trueaudio sound engine will be added.

While game graphics become more realistic with each passing year, the same does not apply to sound. AMD hopes to change this through the integration of digital signal processors, which are built directly into the graphics circuit and licensed by Tensilica. This enables the function AMD calls Trueaudio, which in addition to Radeon HD 7790 and R7 260X will also be found in R9 290 and R9 290X with the graphics circuit Hawaii.

Trueaudio gives game developers greater opportunities to produce more voices, effects and filters – but also provide more precise positioning with everything from lavish surround systems to stereo speakers and headphones. With the help of the dedicated signal processors, this is made possible without increasing the load on the processor.

AMD Radeon HD 7790 will support the new features with a future update of AMD’s drivers, which are likely to arrive in conjunction with Radeon R9 290 and R9 290X.
