New rumors about price reductions for the Radeon HD 7900 series

The launch of the Geforce GTX 680 gave AMD competition in generation 28 nanometers. Nvidia’s latest graphics processor generally performs better than the red team’s flagship and is also competitively priced, which has given rise to new speculation that price reductions are imminent.

Now there is talk that AMD will lower the recommended price of the Radeon HD 7970 by up to 60 USD, minus 400 kronor. This would mean that the graphics cards will be available for approximately SEK 4,300 including VAT at the major Swedish retailers.

The same information states that the Radeon HD 7950 is adjusted from 449 to 394 USD, a price reduction of 55 USD or 370 kronor. The new price will thus be approximately SEK 3,300 including VAT. Last but not least, the Radeon HD 7770 should be lowered by 15 USD or about a hundred bucks.

On the other hand, what contradicts the information about future price reductions is that there is a shortage of circuits in 28 nanometers. Due to this, AMD only prioritizes Radeon-exclusive manufacturers, while graphics card manufacturers that also have Geforce in the range are left behind, such as Asus, MSI and Gigabyte.
