AMD releases limited edition of Radeon RX 6800 XT in black version

As you know, the current situation in the graphics card market is not a funny story. Extreme shortages of both circuits and components combined with an incredible demand make it very difficult to get a card at present – at least if you can not imagine standing in long queues at retailers. While in principle all types of models are difficult to get hold of, the most rare unicorns are without a doubt Nvidia’s and AMD’s self-made cards in the Geforce RTX 3000 series and the Radeon RX 6000 family.

For the latter series of cards, AMD has previously stated that they will continue to manufacture their own reference models until further notice, although it should be said that the availability of these has been almost non-existent in 2021. Now the company announces via its member club Team Red that they have developed another reference variant of the Radeon RX 6800 XT, which in accordance with “popular demand” from AMD’s customers is delivered in an all-black version.

The new card gets the suffix “Midnight Black” and is identical to the previous reference variant of the Radeon RX 6800 XT with the exception that the cover for the radiator and the cover plate on the back are now anodised in black instead of silver. According to AMD, the model is a limited edition that will only be sold as long as stock lasts. How many cards are involved and any allocation to Europe is not revealed by the mailing.

Radeon RX 6800 XT “Midnight Black” is sold exclusively via AMD.com from April 7 at 15:00. The price level is currently unknown, but if the model follows the same pattern as the previous reference card, it should land at 649 EUR.

Will you try to hang on to the lock to try to get an all-black Radeon RX 6800 XT at 3pm?
