AMD, Ryzen 4000 desktop APU up to 8 cores: check a detailed list

According to the German website Igor's Lab, who came into possession of a long list of OPN numbers, AMD would be working on no less than twelve "Renoir" APUs targeting the desktop sector (AM4) with the aim of expanding the range of Ryzen "G" solutions. The US company would have an offer of APU Ryzen 4000 consisting of six models with 65W TDP and as many 35W variants.

For each level of TDP would be provided two APUs with 8 cores and 16 threads, two solutions with 6 cores and 12 threads and two proposals with 4 cores and 8 threads. Therefore, the indiscretion of the past few days on the arrival of an APU with 8 cores and 16 threads of the Ryzen 7 family seems to be confirmed. All the incoming solutions should support DDR4-3200 memory and have one Vega GPU characterized by less CU (6, 7 or 8 Compute Units – from 384 to 512 SP – instead of a maximum of 11 CU – 704 SP) but higher frequencies compared to the Ryzen G of the 3000 series.

They are also present in the documentation clock frequency indications, with the 8-core APU that seems capable of reaching 4350 MHz in Turbo mode. The integrated GPU, however, could go up to 2.1 GHz, despite the 1.4 GHz of the Ryzen 5 3400G GPU. It must be said, however, that months after the debut it may not be definitive clocks.

However, if the indiscretion found confirmation, we would be faced not only with a new leap forward for desktop APUs, but with a 50% increase in cores and threads for Ryzen 5 desktop APUs, with the passage from 4 cores / 8 threads to 6 cores / 12 threads, while the Ryzen 3 APUs would gain SMT, absent on the Ryzen 3 3200G.

It remains to be seen whether these APUs will also be installable on the B450 and X470 motherboards (after updating the firmware), as well as on the new B550s, as they share the architecture of the Ryzen 3000. AMD has instead announced in recent days that the Ryzen 4000 based on Zen 3 architecture, without integrated graphics, will require B550 and X570 motherboards to function.
