AMD shows Radeon graphics cards with dual graphics processors Fiji

During AMD’s event PC Gaming Show, not only the Radeon 300 series saw the light of day. The company also took the opportunity to discuss the graphics processor Fiji, which lays the foundation for no less than four graphics cards, of which the top model gets no less than two graphics circuits.

The model, which does not yet have an official name, is housed in AMD’s concept computer Quantum, which is a compact solution for the living room. At the event, the company’s CEO Lisa Su talks about the model that is said to be the world’s fastest graphics card with a theoretical computing power of no less than 16 TFLOPS.

The pronounced figure can be compared to the approaching Radeon R9 Fury X, which with 4,096 stream processors in 1,050 MHz provides 8.6 TFLOPS. To reach the promised value, AMD’s lavish dual variant would need to be at least 977 MHz for both graphics processors. This of course also includes the stacked memory type HBM for a bandwidth of 512 GB / s.

Perhaps more impressive than the high promised performance is that the circuit board measures in at an estimated 21–22 centimeters, which is much smaller than previous solutions with two graphics processors. For the power supply, two 8-pin PCI Express are marked, but where power consumption can land is not yet known. The shrunken card also suggests that it, like the R9 Fury X, gets closed water cooling.

AMD’s new graphics card with dual Fiji chips will be launched in the autumn.
