It looks like we’ve met a company that will provide the hardware needed for Wi-Fi 6E in new Ryzen-based laptops and PCs due to debut in 2022. This is how AMD officially joins forces with MediaTek for Wi-Fi 6E, and the first ones on the market will be AMD’s Wi-Fi 6E modules from the RZ600 series, which will be based on the MediaTek Filogic 330P chipset.
As we read in the press release, the planned family will now include two models for mounting in M.2 2230 slots. The more efficient RX616 with the option of mounting in M.2 1216 will be. Fi on 160 MHz channels.

The second chip will be the less efficient RZ608, which boasts a speed (on the PHY side) of 1.2 Gb / s and uses a bandwidth of 80 MHz. As both systems are based on Mediatek’s proprietary Fliogic 330P, Bluetooth 5.2 support will probably also come into play.

While not the news of those seat bumps, it’s good to know that the collaboration with MediaTek will reduce AMD’s reliance on Intel to produce its own Wi-Fi modules. In addition, it should provide better quality Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.
