Asus has previously shown the graphics doll XG Station 2 at Computex 2016 and it was then a ROG-labeled device. It also meant stylish exterior with a different mounting device, and of course also RGB lighting all around. The company is now showing a heavily revised model at CES 2018.
The unit is simply called XG Station and has a much more discreet outer casing in metal. The chassis in which everything rests is developed together with the manufacturer In Win, who happily avoids plastic as much as possible. Inside is a power supply with enough power to power the latest generation of graphics cards in the performance segment.
As before, the XG Station is connected to a laptop using the Thunderbolt 3 interface, which provides a bandwidth of four PCI Express 3.0 lanes. According to Asus, this should be enough to squeeze around 90 percent of the complete performance from the highest performing graphics cards on the market.

Asus XG Station Pro is available soon for a recommended price around 329 USD, corresponding to approximately 3,300 kronor including VAT. When it ends up in Sweden and at what price is still unknown.
