It can hardly have escaped anyone that the summer has been filled to the brim with graphics card launches, where both AMD and Nvidia have rolled out their new architectures. In the same vein, many of the models landed in a higher price segment than many expected, where the popular middle class did not really get the love it deserved.
For those who do not want to spend SEK 3,000 on a graphics card, however, there are fortunately alternatives from both teams – without being forced into the lower-performing budget segment or previous-generation models.
SweClocker’s test lab will today be the arena for a graphics battle in the middle class, where AMD and Nvidia are fighting for the “performance-per-crown” throne. The battle is between two price-pressed models from Palit and Asus, where the former company presents the 3 GB variant of the Geforce GTX 1060, while the latter offers the Radeon RX 480 with 4 GB of memory – both equipped with aftermarket coolers.
Stripped graphics memory may make the models less interesting for higher resolutions, but for popular, and over-represented, 1080p, both combatants should be able to offer pleasant performance at an attractive price point.
Many thanks to Webhallen who assisted with the loan of the Palit Geforce GTX 1060 Dual!
