The adventure of CHL comes to an end, a name that will bring back memories to those who have been on the web since the beginning of the millennium. The court of Florence, reports Il Sole 24 Ore, declared bankruptcy by appointing Cristian Soscia and bankruptcy trustee Vincenzo Pilla as chief judge.
In years when Amazon had not yet become the queen of e-commerce CHL was among the Italian companies pioneering online sales, combining a business model that included traditional trade through its own stores alongside online sales.
The meeting for the examination of the passive state has been set for the next 14 May 2020 at the Court of Florence; at that time, creditors and third parties who have real or personal rights over the property of the bankrupt company will be able to present their reasons, after formulating an application for lodgement within 30 days of the meeting.
Founded in 1993 in Florence, CHL initially dedicated itself to the sale of components related to the assembly of PCs. Later she moved, thanks also to her e-commerce, to products related to telephony, audio video and the world of photography. Since June 2000 the company has been listed on the FSTE Italia Small Cap index of the Milan stock exchange; on December 5, 2019, Consob suspended CHL shares in consideration of the company's economic, equity and financial situation.
We are now at the end of this historic company, capable of creating a successful online sales model at the beginning of the e-commerce boom in Italy but which over the years has not been able to maintain the market position initially gained.
