Biden threatens Saudi Arabia with consequences for cuts in oil production
WASHINGTON, Oct 12 – PRIME US President Joe Biden said Saudi Arabia would face “consequences” for its lobbied OPEC+ decision to cut oil production, but declined to elaborate.
Saudi Arabia calls OPEC+ decision ‘purely economic’
“There will be some consequences for what they did with Russia,” Biden said in an interview with CNN.
He added that he intends to work with Congress when it resumes its work.
“I will not talk about what I consider and mean, but there will be consequences,” the president said.
Last week, oil-producing countries in the OPEC+ alliance at the first face-to-face meeting in Vienna since the start of the pandemic in 2020 agreed to cut production by two million barrels per day starting in November, extending the deal until the end of 2023.
