Bitcoin (BTC) Fraud Over Coronary Virus!

Opportunistic hackers have started to fraud with the websites and applications they have prepared with the claim of providing information and services over their new coronavirus (Covid-19), which continues to spread worldwide.

DomainTools’ cyber security threat researchers warned that a new ransom software called CovidLock was installed on phones via sites like coronavirusapp.site. The website in question asks visitors to install an Android-based app that shows the speed of spreading of the new coronavirus and a heat map of the regions where it spreads.

After the application is installed, the ransomware initiates an attack against the victims’ screen lock, and the software that replaces the screen lock requests a $ 100 Bitcoin (BTC) provided that it is deposited within 48 hours to unlock it. The app also forces victims to pay by threatening to delete all data on the phone if the money is not paid.

In the statement made by the researchers, it was stated that there is a way to get rid of the ransom software and it will be shared for free in a short time, while the websites opened using the name coronavirus are 50 percent likely to be malicious.
