The mission of the IAEA delegation at the Zaporozhye NPP will end on September 6, their further plans are unknown, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the Zaporozhye movement “We are together with Russia”, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, told RIA Novosti.

The Ministry of Defense announced an unsuccessful attempt to storm the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

“The delegation is still working on September 5, after which its mission ends, and they leave on September 6. They have received all kinds of assistance. We are interested in an objective and balanced assessment of the situation at the nuclear power plant,” Rogov said.

“There is no clear understanding of whether IAEA representatives will remain at the nuclear power plant on a permanent basis,” Rogov stressed.

Earlier, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that the agency would remain at the Zaporozhye NPP as long as necessary.

Last week, an IAEA mission led by the head of the agency, Rafael Grossi, arrived at the Zaporozhye NPP. The head of the delegation of “Rosatom” and employees of the Zaporizhzhya NPP led the delegation of the IAEA through its territory and showed the sections of the station that were damaged during the shelling of Ukrainian troops. As Mikhail Ulyanov, permanent representative of the Russian Federation to international organizations in Vienna, told RIA Novosti, two IAEA employees will remain at the Zaporozhye NPP on a permanent basis.

Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity – the plant has six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt each. Since March, it has been under the protection of the Russian military. The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that this step was justified in order to avoid leakage of nuclear and radioactive materials. The Ukrainian military continues to regularly shell Enerhodar and the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant adjacent to the city.
