Let us Talk a bit about – i3 12100f vs i5 10400f or Core i3-12100 tests leaked, outperforms Core i5-10400F: Good news for those looking to build a cheap PC during 2022: The first tests of the Core i3-12100 came to light, and apparently, it will offer a great price-performance, being the best option for the mid-low range during the next year.
Apparently the Core i3-12100 will offer 4 cores and 8 threads of high performance, with a maximum boost frequency of 4.3GHz. It will also have a PL1 of 60W and a PL2 of 77W, having a very low consumption and therefore very low heat generation, so it will not be necessary to buy another heatsink separately, reducing upgrade costs.
The CPU was tested in an Asrock Z690 Steel Legend with 16GB of DDR4-3600 memory, representing a combination of CPU and memory that is likely to be used by many who upgrade to this processor and thus giving an idea of what performance they will get from the processor. to update. The GPU used was an RTX 3060 Ti, and it was compared against the Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X tested on an Asrock X470 Taichi motherboard with the same memories and GPUs.
In Cinebench R23 the Core i3-12100 scored 1649 points in the single-core test and 8474 points in the multi-core test, crushing the Ryzen 3 3300X which scores 1280 and 6723 points in these tests.
As a comparison, the i5-10400F, one of the most popular CPUs of recent years, scores 8058 points in the multi-core test with two cores and four extra threads, showing the great performance increase that this new generation of Intel has, where a 4-core, 8-thread CPU equals a 6-core, 12-thread CPU from two generations ago. Additionally, single-core performance is pretty much on the side of the i9-11900K which scores about 1,675 points, making it an incredible beast in this regard.
On the gaming side, in CS: GO there was not much difference between the Core i3-12100 and Ryzen 3 since an RTX 3060 Ti was used, which is not the best option to compare processors. Still we see that the Core i3 beats the Ryzen 3 3300X by 20FPS, which is not bad at all.
The other game tested was Cyberpunk 2077, where without RT or DLSS the performance is practically identical between the three CPUs, but when activating DLSS the CPU consumption starts to be much higher, and there we notice the great difference between these CPUs, with the i3 hitting 145FPS versus the Ryzen 3 3300X’s 126FPS.
The i3-12100 is expected to be announced in January and arrives in late January or early February alongside the rest of the Alder Lake “No-K” lineup and the H610, B660 and H670 motherboards allowing for an inexpensive upgrade to Alder. Lake. We will keep you updated on the news so stay tuned to HD Tecnología.
