Crucial Ballistix and Ballistix MAX: RAM for gaming

A face lift to the Ballistix family

This Crucial family of products has been on the market for quite some time, and has always been characterized by providing an excellent performance / price ratio, being ideal for all types of users. Now they have wanted to "get serious" and improve their quality standards in order to provide better performance, with lower latencies and greater stability for overclocking.

Thus, the renewed RAM Ballistix memory family now offers speeds of between 2400 MHz and 3600 MHz with densities per module between 4 GB and 32 GB. They have also modified the aluminum heatsink, which will now be available in black, white and red, and will include options with RGB configurable in 8 zones (with 16 individual LEDs in total) for users who want to adapt the aesthetics of their RAM to that of their PC. In addition, these memories will be offered in DIMM format for desktop and SO-DIMM for laptops.

As was the case with the Ballistix family so far, these new renovated modules will come in DDR4 kits from 2 × 8 GB to 4 × 32 GB, and their price will depend on the quantity and speed but in all cases they will be covered with lifetime warranty with the manufacturer.

Ballistix MAX, the new top of Crucial range

Crucial has also announced the launch of the new Ballistix MAX family, which is now positioning itself as the brand's flagship family. In this case, they are presented at speeds that go from 4000 MHz to 4400 MHz at the factory and in densities between 4 GB and 32 GB, being able to find them in kits up to 128 GB once they go on sale.

In this case, they have an improved aluminum cooler, thicker and more efficient than the normal Ballistix series which, according to Crucial, maximizes cooling capacity and gives greater margin for overclock. They also include thermal sensors to be able to monitor the temperature in real time.

The Crucial Ballistix MAX incorporates RGB lighting in 8 zones with 16 LEDs that can be configured with the usual RGB software on the motherboard such as ASUS Aura or Gigabyte RGB Fusion. Further, the upper lighting bar can be removed and install models printed with 3D printers instead. In this case, they will only be sold (at the moment) in black and in DIMM format. They will also have a manufacturer's lifetime warranty, just like all Crucial RAM models.

The manufacturer has said that we can find in stores both the renewed Ballistix family and the new Ballistix MAX as of February 4 at prices that, logically, will depend on the density and speed chosen. They haven't said anything but it is to be understood that the Ballistix MAX series will be significantly more expensive than the normal Ballistix.
