Although “paper launches” are less common today than they used to be, access to new products is often problematic. SweClockers made a tour of Swedish retailers to see what the situation looks like ahead of the upcoming launch of Geforce RTX 3080.
The answers were a bit scattered, but it is clear that no one we spoke to is happy with how many cards they will have on the shelf until the start of sales. In actual numbers, everything from a few tens to a few hundred units is mentioned, depending on who we spoke to. It should be added, however, that there is probably no dealer who has ever been completely satisfied with how many cards they have been allocated after a launch.
A retailer specifically mentions that the cards will be completely sold out “in minutes” after the start of sales, which takes place at 15:00 on Thursday 17 September. The next delivery is said to be planned as soon as the week after launch, but this should also be of the smaller type.
