Details and rumors about Zen 2, Zen 3 and Zen 5 architectures

Since the successful launch of the first Ryzen processors, AMD’s offensive in the processor market has continued. This time we got some details about the upcoming architectures, the approximate date of the debut, and even rumors about unimaginable specifications.

All of this has been revealed via the traditional roadmap … or rather the update of the one from a few months ago. Fortunately, this time there were no negative surprises, because work on the Ryzen series is going like a storm and there are no delays. By the way, the same cannot be said about red graphics cards and Intel 10nm processors. The plans for the future, however, are familiar. Later this year, AMD will start distributing Ryzen 3 chips based on Zen 2 architecture and 7nm lithography, which along with new chipsets (compatibility with the previous ones is still to be maintained) will debut in 2019. In addition, it turned out that with the premiere of new products for consumers, the EPYC server series will also be refreshed.

In the following years, we can count on something based on Zen 3 using an improved 7nm process, and in the even more distant future processors combining 3nm cores and Zen 5 architecture. It is worth remembering that the third generation of Ryzen will not be an ordinary refreshment, as with this year’s Ryzen 2. AMD mentioned that the upcoming systems will be improved from their predecessors in many angles and the company praise the company for that, because probably no one would take advantage of the Tick-Tock tactics cultivated by Intel for many years.

Finally, a small dose of rumors. The editors of the Wccftech website have heard that in 2019 Ryzens will bring the ideology “win coreff”To an even higher level. I am talking about 12 cores hidden under the hood of the representatives of the most efficient models from the Ryzen 7 group. As I mentioned earlier – these are just rumors that we must take with a pinch of salt. However, I’m sure many would prefer to see higher clocks rather than even more cores.
