EU countries to discuss incidents at Nord Stream on October 7

MOSCOW, 5 Oct – PRIME. Emergencies on the Nord Stream gas pipeline system will be one of the topics of the EU summit, which will be held on October 7, a senior EU official said.

“We are not directly involved in the investigation, we are waiting for the results. But we must discuss these issues and cooperation on these issues, including at the EU summit on Friday,” he said.

A gas leak on the strings of the Russian gas pipelines Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 was discovered on September 26 in the Baltic Sea. According to Swedish seismologists, powerful underwater explosions were recorded in the emergency area the day before. Germany, Denmark and Sweden did not rule out that the incidents could have been the result of targeted sabotage.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation initiated the initiation of a case on an act of international terrorism.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said earlier that Moscow insists on the need for an international investigation into incidents involving Germany.
