The Nvidia-exclusive graphics card manufacturer EVGA has long had a high reputation among enthusiasts thanks to the company’s rules regarding not least guarantees. Among other things, the processes have meant that the guarantee still applies even though the graphics card may have changed owner. In addition, the graphic maker allows users to install their own water cooling.
Kitguru now reports that the manufacturer seems to be changing at least one of these points. This is the guest registration of warranty cases that previously made complaints about used graphics cards, even if the first owner registered the card on himself. This feature has now been removed, and replaced by a user-unique system.
This means that owners need to register their graphics card together with name, address, telephone number and e-mail address to be able to complain about it. It also means that only the person on whom the product is registered can submit it for complaint.
Why the change was made is still unknown, but it is believed to be a way to handle a possible wave of complaints about graphics cards used to break cryptocurrencies. The process often means that the graphics cards are pressed hard for long periods of time, which can cause an unusual amount of wear.
