PARIS, Sep 26 – PRIME. France will no longer provide export guarantees for new fossil fuel projects from 2023, Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Monday.
“We will no longer finance export guarantees for any type of fossil fuel. We are talking about its extraction, processing, transportation. This is a significant step that is designed to accelerate environmental transformation,” Le Maire said at a briefing after a meeting of the French Cabinet of Ministers.
According to him, the support measures will cease to operate from January 1, 2023.
In 2020, France announced that it would stop supporting oil projects from 2025 and gas projects from 2035.
