Gigabyte confirms the Radeon RX 6700 XT with 12 GB of memory

As recently as this weekend, information emerged that AMD’s mid-range graphics card Radeon RX 6700 XT is coming into effect in the near future. The focus is said to be on gaming performance for the 1440p resolution, ie 2,560 × 1,440 pixels, and true to tradition, AMD has long been rumored to equip the upcoming model with large amounts of graphics memory.

Where the RDNA 2-based big brothers in the Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6900 series are equipped with 16 GB and aimed at gaming in 4K resolution, the Radeon RX 6700 XT was instead expected to get 12 GB of GDDR6 type graphics memory. This is something that is now confirmed by Gigabyte, as the company has listed a number of model variants at EEC.

The listing, unearthed by the Twitter profile @Komachi_Ensaka and committed novelty at Videocardz, includes four variants – all with the memory set reference “12GD” in the name. Gigabyte looks to, in addition to the Radeon RX 6700 XT in reference format, also offer variants in Eagle, Gaming and Aorus costumes, where the latter is expected to be the top model.

Navi 22 will be the circuit that drives the Radeon RX 6700 series, and in its most powerful design, it is expected to basically correspond to the previous generation top card RX 5700 XT. The big difference will be a 25% break in the width of the memory bus, a configuration that can also lead to stripped cards in the Radeon 6700 series with 6 GB of GDDR6 memory.

Exactly when the new series is expected to be launched is still unclear – some previous rumors point to a launch window in March, while others point to the 2021 “first half”.
