Israeli startup GK8 introduced an offline wallet for storing cryptocurrencies, which nonetheless retains the ability to quickly transfer coins.
According to startup co-founder Lior Lamesh, the wallet is connected to the blockchain directly and can only send transactions, but it cannot accept data. This allows you to protect yourself from hacking, attacks and accidental loss of funds.
“The GK8 cold wallet minimizes the possibility of attack and prevents the loss of funds. The wallet does not accept data directly from the blockchain, ”said Lamesh.
The founders of the startup have long been working in the field of information security, and the idea of creating a cold wallet came to Lamesh and Shahar Shamai when they discovered vulnerabilities in other solutions.
“We thought: how would we make a fully working wallet for cold storage without an Internet connection. And, in the end, we managed to do it, ”said Lamesh.
Note that, according to Coin Metrics, at the beginning of the month the number of bitcoin addresses that store at least 10 BTC reached 157,000. This is about 1% of all addresses with a non-zero balance.
