Google’s lens on computers gets some new features

The Google lens is a very useful tool, although undoubtedly the smartphone version works much better than the one on the computer. However, this may change with the new features.

Although the Google Lens is mainly used to search for images, the version on smartphones offers us much, much more. The new features that Google is adding now in the desktop version (the lens must be connected to the Chrome browser) will enable us much more than before. The “Text” option has been added, which you will find after hovering over the image with the mouse and selecting “Search for images using the Google Lens”. Thanks to this novelty, we can select any text fragment that the tool will translate, read or search for.

The interface in the “Translate” function is the same as in the mobile version, so it is easy to navigate and does not cause any problems with basic translations. The more extensive ones can, in turn, be transferred to Google Translate. Other novelties are: the ability to find the source of the image or the optical character recognition function.

The changes should now be available to everyone, although it is not known when exactly they were introduced. As reported by 9to5google, they are widely available in Chrome 100 on Windows, Mac computers, and ChromeOS devices.
