Intel drivers support overclocking of Arc graphics cards

During Intel Architecture Day 2021, the company finally eased the lid on its investment in graphics cards to be sold under the Arc brand. The first model will be launched at the beginning of next year and Intel has a lot to prove, not least on the software side where the company is notorious for poor support from game developers and substandard drivers.

It is therefore not surprising that Intel’s representatives speak warmly about the role of the software. As part of this, Roger Chandler, Intel’s head of consumer graphics solutions, writes about how they have optimized their integrated graphics for more than 100 game titles and the close collaboration with Microsoft to develop the DirectX 12 Ultimate interface.

We’re even integrating overclocking controls into the driver UI to give enthusiasts the tools they need to push the hardware to the limit.

In the same breath, Chandler writes that Intel is in full swing to integrate overclocking support directly into the drivers, something the competitor AMD has in its drivers and which Nvidia lacks. While many enthusiasts prefer third-party overclocking software, Intel’s built-in can be an important feature, at least until support is built into the applications that currently support Nvidia Geforce and AMD Radeon.

The launch of Intel’s graphics card Arc will take place in early 2022. First out is the graphics circuit “Alchemist”, formerly known as DG2, whose performance is believed to land between Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT.
