Two manufacturers are slowly but surely becoming three, as Intel continues to work on taking the Xe graphics architecture to capable graphics cards. The Xe architecture is already available as integrated graphics components, high-performance data center circuits and simple dedicated graphics cards, but future game-oriented Xe-HPG will offer Dvid2 and ND competition in gaming contexts.
A few weeks ago, reputable Igor Wallossek from Igor’s Lab presented that DG2 comes in five different performance classes, but also that Intel’s initial focus is on laptops. Wallossek is now following up with confirmatory information from internal presentation images from Intel, which also describes the size of the two substrates that form the basis for the graphics cards.

The specification table is the same as was shown already at the beginning of May, but the information Wallossek has now received from forces that they are correct. The three most powerful variants are intended for dedicated graphics cards and laptops in the performance segment, while the simpler duo ends up in laptops and graphics cards in lower price and performance classes. The former trio takes place on a 43 × 37.5 mm large substrate that uses base BGA 2660, while square 29 × 29 mm and BGA 1379 base apply to the rest.
According to Wallossek, Intel’s promise of a Xe-HPG debut this year means that the two entry-level cards will see the light of day together with the Alder Lake-P processor family towards the end of the year. The models marked SKU 1, SKU 2 and SKU 3 will be released gradually during the first quarter of next year, but here Igor Wallossek emphasizes that it is unclear in which order the dedicated cards will be released.
