Kingston Digital is increasing production and market share, and following an exciting line of SSDs, the manufacturer has begun shipping the next SATA model in the UV500 series.

A characteristic feature of the line is storage devices in three available formats at once: 2.5 “, M.2 2280 and mSATA, and the storage capacity in the first case reaches 1.92 TB. New items are based on 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips and a Marvell 88SS1074 controller. The official announcement of Kingston UV500 series drives took place on April 16, 2018. The users were offered a large list of models of various formats and volumes, which provided a wide choice for the required tasks.

The manufacturer declared a proprietary five-year warranty, which allows, within the specified period, to contact not only the store, but also directly to the Russian representative office of Kingston when providing documents of purchase in the Russian Federation.

And with the announcement of the UV500 series, Kingston has released three SATA 6Gb / s SSD modifications at once, trying to meet the needs of many users. But today we are focusing on only one model.

Kingston UV500 240 GB is made in the popular 2280 form factor with a SATA 6 Gb / s interface, key types – B and M. The speed of sequential information writing – up to 500 MB / s, sequential read speed – up to 520 MB / s.

Used textolite blue and one-sided placement of microcircuits. Thanks to its slim design and this layout, the novelty is perfect not only for PC owners, but also for installation in laptops and ultrabooks.

The Kingston UV500 240 GB model managed to be reviewed before us, so the branded sticker with technical characteristics, index and serial number was removed, which partially damaged the marking.

The amount of memory is recruited by two Kingston FB12808UCT1-32 microcircuits, the flash type is Toshiba 256Gb BiCS 3D TLC NAND, four crystals per package, manufactured according to the 15 nm process technology. The total capacity is 256 GB, part of the system is allocated for a hidden reserve, so the user remains 240 GB. Considering the calculation formula, in which 1 GB is equal to 1,000,000,000 bytes, the final capacity is more modest – only 223.57 GB.

The well-known four-channel Marvell 88SS1074-BSW2 microprocessor is used as a controller.

A chip with its own Kingston marking is responsible for the buffer memory, under which DRAM Nanya DDR3-1600 with a capacity of 256 MB is probably hidden.

Other features of the Kingston UV500 240GB include end-to-end data protection with advanced 256-bit AES hardware encryption and support for Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Opal 2.0 technology to meet security platform requirements.
