Lisa Su acknowledged the shortage of video cards and processors and called the timing of their return to stores

Despite the general shortage of semiconductors, the state of affairs is such that NVIDIA has been much better prepared for the crisis. As a result, the supply of graphics chips, albeit small, is available. At the same time, AMD faced a total deficit, when it is simply unrealistic to find a Radeon RX 6000 series graphics card on sale. The situation with the processors is a little better, but there are also problems here.

During the report to investors, Lisa Su stopped on supply issues, telling when the company’s analysts expect the semiconductor market to improve. So, in the first half of the year we are not talking about any stabilization. The capacities are at the limit. At the same time, Ryzen 5000-series processors receive priority in supply, which allows hoping for some availability and a return to the recommended prices

But there will not be any significant deliveries of Radeon RX 6000 series video cards until the 2nd half of 2021. In fact, this is an optimistic forecast. The fact is that back in November, a point of view was expressed, according to which supplies will recover at the beginning of this year, and the deficit will fall to nothing.

Lisa Su assures that demand has exceeded shipping plans, and this is true, because no one expected the coronavirus, which led to an increase in consumer activity in the PC market. Lisa Su acknowledged that the industry needs additional production capacity, explaining that work with partners in this area is underway.
