Macron called for a strategy to protect EU infrastructure

“In Europe, we need to protect key infrastructure: some time ago we saw attacks on the Nord Stream gas pipeline. We have infrastructure that makes us vulnerable, this applies to EU countries and other members (European Political Community): gas pipelines, cables, satellites We need a European strategy to protect it,” the French leader said at a press conference following the first meeting of the European Political Community in Prague on Thursday.

The attacks on two Russian export gas pipelines to Europe at once – Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 – occurred on September 26. Germany, Denmark and Sweden do not rule out targeted sabotage. The Nord Stream operator Nord Stream AG reported that the state of emergency on gas pipelines is unprecedented and it is impossible to estimate the repair time.
