Macron will again discuss with Putin the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in the coming days

PARIS, Sep 11 – PRIME. French President Emmanuel Macron intends to speak again with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the coming days to discuss the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the Elysee Palace said on Sunday following the conversation between the two presidents.

Earlier on Sunday, the Kremlin press service reported that Putin and Macron discussed the situation in Ukraine, with a focus on ensuring the safety of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

“The President of the Republic will maintain contact with President Zelensky and the Director General of the IAEA, and will again talk with President Putin in the coming days in order to reach a solution that will ensure the safety of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant,” the Elysee Palace said in a communiqué.

During the conversation, Macron called for an early transition to dialogue in Ukraine.

The French leader also stressed the need to ensure global food security. Macron noted that ensuring that the most needy countries have access to grain is “the collective responsibility of all international partners, especially Russia.”

As the Kremlin press service reported, Putin, in a conversation with Macron, noted the importance of the absence of obstacles through the European Commission for the supply of agricultural products and fertilizers from Russia to the markets of Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
