New details about Intel’s dedicated graphics card Xe DG2 can be found on the web

During the autumn of 2020, technology enthusiasts will be offered a number of goodies in terms of graphics card news, where both AMD and Nvidia will launch new generations in the form of the Geforce RTX 3000 and Radeon RX 6000, respectively. to the world of dedicated graphics cards.

Intel’s return is in the form of the architecture Xe, which in the future will look into everything from laptops to components for computer players and high-performance workstations and supercomputers. We previously reported on Intel’s strategy for the upcoming Xe ventures, which can be broadly divided into integrated Xe for laptops, plug-in cards for desktop gaming computers, and server and data center solutions.

Now, new information about an Intel Xe DG2 product has emerged that, unlike the Xe-LP-based PCI Express card DG1 for developers, seems to be about an MXM-based product series for laptops based on Xe-HPG. Videocardz reports that the circuit shown in the picture is a DG2-based product with 384 execution units and that it is equipped with 6 GB GDDR6.

In addition to this, a picture is also shown of an unknown product that is said to contain a hitherto undiscovered Tiger Lake-H processor that is paired with a DG2 model equipped with 8GB GDDR6. Videocardz speculates that the 8 GB card will probably be equipped with more execution units than the 6 GB variant and that the memory buses should be 256 and 192 bits wide, respectively.

The complete Xe-HPG circuits intended for desktop gaming computers in 2021 have previously been rumored to contain as many as 960 execution units and will probably be able to be equipped with even larger amounts of memory than the cards seen in these leaks. Since each execution device contains eight FP32 ALUs (Arithmetic Logic Unit) this would mean 7,680 cores to compare with, for example, the GeForce RX 3080’s 8,704 CUDA cores.

Do you think that Intel can pose a real threat to AMD and Nvidia in the graphics card market for those of us who demand high gaming performance?
