After the premiere of the Geforce GTX 750 series and the subsequent performance models Geforce GTX 970 and GTX 980, it’s time for the Maxwell architecture to find more price ranges. Next in line is the successor to the best-selling Geforce GTX 760 – a graphics card for the upper middle class.
According to SweClockers, the Geforce GTX 960 will be presented at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which kicks off on January 6. However, this only applies to an early press screening. The official introduction takes place instead a couple of weeks later, probably towards the end of the same month.
Unlike the current models in the Geforce GTX 900 series, the newcomer of the new and stripped-down graphics processor includes the GM206 with normally 2 GB of GDDR5 memory on a 128-bit memory bus. Despite the slimmed down specifications, the Geforce GTX 960 is predicted to perform on par with the GTX 770.
Pricing is all the more difficult to predict, not least due to the high dollar exchange rate. The target price is estimated to land at 249–299 dollars, which should be able to be translated into approximately SEK 2,500 at Swedish retailers.
