Nvidia can counter Big Navi with the new RTX 3060 Ti

Ti could bring back the RTX 3060.

There is a month left before the release of AMD Big Navi, and while the Red Team is preparing to present the next generation video cards on October 28, the competitor is not sleeping. Right now, it doesn’t look like AMD will be able to release its graphics cards without heavy competition in the mid-range.

We’ve already seen a leak with AMD Radeon RX 6000 specs hinting at the full range of graphics cards from the mid-range Radeon RX 6500XT to the flagship Radeon RX 6900XT. And while AMD faces a tough fight against the recently launched Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090, the Ampere series has nothing below the RTX 3070 – at least not yet.

Two anonymous sources have allegedly confirmed that the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti will be announced around the end of October, according to a VideoCardz report. The leaked specs suggest a 4864 CUDA-core graphics card with 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM. This will make the graphics card only slightly slower than the RTX 3070, which will receive 5888 CUDA cores on the same 256-bit memory bus – probably bad news for those who bought an RTX 3070 at launch.

It would be strange to see the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti hit the market before the vanilla RTX 3060, especially since we haven’t seen the 3080 Ti or even the RTX 2060 Ti. However, before we were already mistaken about the naming scheme for Nvidia Ampere video cards, so anything can be.

In any case, the battle for the graphics card market will certainly flare up at the end of October, and we can’t wait to see which graphics card is the best.
