Nvidia GeForce Now on Apple’s Mac M1 and in Chrome browsers!

Chrome support for Windows and Mac users – Linux may work but is not getting official support.

Nvidia’s GeForce Now game streaming service has shown official support for the Google Chrome web browser with an app update on macOS to cover new Macs running on its own Apple M1 processors.

Chrome support means you’ll be able to quickly connect and stream the game on any device with a browser, however, there are update notes discovered by XDA Developers where Nvidia clarifies that only Windows and macOS officially support the feature-rich solution for Chrome.

Potentially deplorable for Linux players, although they can always try, as Nvidia notes: “Other platforms may work but are not supported.” However, it sounds better than nothing.

Support for Chromebooks (that is, Chrome OS, not the Chrome browser) was introduced last year.

Nvidia clarifies, “We’ve also added an easy way to create bookmarks and shortcuts to help you launch your favorite games faster. Just click on the game to open its options, and then select + SHORTCUT to open the dialog for creating a shortcut on the desktop. ”

ADVENTURES M1

The latest update (GeForce Now 2.0.27) introduced support for Apple Macs with the new ARM-based M1 processors, and the software is available through the official macOS app. A convenient solution for all users of new computers.

Note that some users have been running GeForce Now in Chrome on Windows for a while now, but unofficially – the official release is a carefully optimized and reliable software product. Good news considering the reduced responsiveness and of course the reduction in latency while streaming the game.

We tried GeForce Now in Chrome on a Windows 10 computer and noticed smooth playback with an experience similar to the game’s standalone app. However, the lack of some settings, including the ability to lower the frame rate (down to 30 FPS) and a parameter that compensates for “poor connection conditions”, cannot be omitted.

For these reasons, we recommend using the GeForce Now app if available, but the way to launch Chrome and then navigate is obviously helpful.
