Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 in reference version in picture – is said to be available on 15 January

Nvidia’s latest graphics architecture is called Turing, where the parade number is dedicated cores for machine learning and ray tracing. The consumer-oriented graphics cards based on the new architecture are currently only four in number and all are in the higher price and performance classes, where the Geforce RTX 2070 is the simplest model with a price tag of around SEK 6,000.

Rumors surrounding the mid-range Geforce RTX 2060 card have been pouring in in recent weeks and recently found images of Zotac’s shrunken variants posted on the web. Nvidia has not yet officially announced the model, but now Videocardz reports that the reference model of the Geforce RTX 2060 is stuck in the picture.

Like the other cards in the RTX 2000 series, the upcoming model is equipped with the updated reference cooler, where two axial fans blow against the heat sink and circuit board. Between the fans, the name of the graphics card can be seen in silver letters, and the cover in black and silver is accompanied by a cover plate on the back of the card.

A single 8-pin ATX connector is responsible for the power supply and like its big brother Geforce RTX 2070, the model lacks connections for connecting several graphics cards. When it comes to picture connections, dual Displayport, an HDMI and DVI are visible. In addition, there is a USB Type-C with support for Virtuallink, which means that a single cable can be connected to VR headsets and stand for data, power and image.

The expected specifications indicate that a scaled-down variant of the TU106 circuit is used, where 30 of 36 active SM clusters yield 1,920 CUDA cores. Recently, the manufacturer Gigabyte registered several variants of the card where memory type and amount vary, but 6 GB of GDDR6 memory is supposed to apply in a more expensive version.

Videocardz also writes that the Geforce RTX 2060 will be unveiled during the technology fair CES 2019, and will then be available in stores from 15 January 2019. The fair will take place between 8 and 12 January 2019, but already on 6 January Nvidia is organizing a press conference. Rumor has it that a price tag of 349-399 USD, but what it lands on remains to be seen.
