Nvidia is working on the Geforce GTX 1050 with 3 GB of graphics memory

In May 2016, Nvidia introduced the Geforce GTX 1080, which was the first graphics card out on the Pascal architecture. In the consumer market, it is still the two-year-old Geforce GTX 1000 series that applies, and the family has only seen minor changes. Nvidia, for example, has varied the amount of graphics memory for different models, where the Geforce GTX 1060 is now available in three memory configurations.

Now the Chinese website Expreview writes that the Geforce GTX 1050 will have a sibling with more graphics memory. The graphics card comes in its current form with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory and those who want more can invest in the Geforce GTX 1050 Ti, which doubles the amount. The possible model must be equipped with 3 GB of memory and is placed between the two mentioned cards.

However, the new variant is said to be downgraded when it comes to the memory bus, where it takes the step down from 128 to 96 bits. Unlike the Geforce GTX 1060 with 3 GB of graphics memory, the number of CUDA cores must be unchanged at the addition, where these are 640 pieces.

It is not unlikely that the Geforce GTX 1050 3 GB is specially developed for the Asian market, where such models were presented by both AMD and Nvidia last year. Whether the graphics card will be launched globally is still unknown, but more information is expected to appear in connection with Computex 2018.
