Nvidia releases cloud service Geforce Experience for 10,000 beta testers

Since time immemorial, PC gamers have struggled to find an optimal relationship between image quality and frame rate, which is not an easy task given the sheer amount of settings often found in modern game titles. Nvidia now claims to have a solution to the problem.

Already at the launch of the Geforce GTX 690 in April, the Geforce Experience was announced, but since then there has been silence about the new cloud service. Now Nvidia is taking the magazine by the mouth and launching the service for 10,000 beta testers.

Geforce Experience consists of two parts; an internet-based database with hardware configurations and settings as well as a client program that scans the database and automatically sets “optimal” graphics settings for installed games. The program can also locate and install the latest drivers.

The database has been built by “experts”, who have performed thousands of performance tests to find well-balanced settings with different hardware configurations. The goal is a frame rate of 40-60 FPS while maintaining the most possible eye candy.

The beta version, which is now being released for testing, is capable of handling more than 30 different game titles with graphics cards from the Fermi (Geforce 400/500) and Kepler (Geforce 600) generations. Graphics parts for both desktops and laptops can be used.

Geforce Experience will soon be available on Nvidia’s website. Nvidia distributes the beta version to 10,000 testers and it is first come, first served.
