Nvidia winner in the graphics market Q1 2013

The deliveries of graphics processors are one of the most important indicators of the development of the personal computer market. Recent declining sales leave their mark on the latest figures from Jon Peddie Research (JPR), which applies to the first quarter of the year and includes both integrated graphics components and stand-alone graphics processors.

The overall PC market declined 13.7% quarter-to-quarter while the graphics market only declined 3.2% reflecting an interest on the part of consumers for double-attach-the adding of a discrete GPU to a system with integrated processor graphics.

According to JPR, sales of personal computers decreased by 13.7 percent on an annual basis, but deliveries of stand-alone graphics processors decreased by only 3.2 percent. This means that consumers continue to upgrade and also purchase graphics cards for computer systems with integrated graphics.

Intel is the largest in the graphics market thanks to integrated graphics processors. The processor giant’s market share is now 61.8 percent, but deliveries fell by 5.3 percent compared with the previous quarter. The second AMD strengthens its market share to 20.2 percent. Here too, however, a decrease in sales of 0.3 percent is noticeable.

Although Nvidia does not sell any x86 processors with integrated graphics, the green team is the only player with positive numbers. Nvidia strengthened its market share to 18.0 percent while deliveries increased by 3.6 percent.

Finally, it is noted that Matrox and VIA / S3 are virtually excluded from the graphics market.
