AMD is preparing a more energy-efficient version of the Radeon R7 250X

During the autumn, much focus will be on the performance segment, where both AMD and Nvidia have new graphics cards underway. For those who are looking for something in the entry-level segment, AMD will also prepare a new variant of the Radeon R7 250X, which will be more energy efficient and better suited for compact construction.

At Akiba PC Watch, AMD’s reference design for the Radeon R7 250XE, which like the R7 250X and HD 7770 is based on the Cape Verde graphics circuit. The letter E stands for Eco and emphasizes that it is an energy-efficient variant without additional power supply via a 6-pin PCI Express connector. The graphics card is also a low-profile model, which means that it fits in, for example, compact HTPC chassis.

For the specifications, it is in short about an underclocked Radeon R7 250X. The graphics card comes with 640 stream processors in 860 MHz, down from 1,000 MHz for the Radeon R7 250X, and a 128-bit memory bus with 1 GB of GDDR5 memory in 4,500 MHz for a bandwidth of 72 GB / s.

According to the information, the AMD Radeon R7 250XE is specially developed for the Japanese market, which makes it uncertain whether it will be available in Swedish stores.
