Patrol and armed to the teeth. Here is the second version of BOSS from Russia, combining the advantages of a submarine and a surface ship

After last year’s disclosure of the patrol vessel by the Russian Rubin design office, we didn’t have to wait too long for its development. Today we learned what the second version of BOSS looks like, which is a patrol ship straight from Russia.

The second version of BOSS from Russia. This patrol ship can even threaten enemy warships

The Rubin design office has just presented a new version of its submarine patrol vessel. BOSS is not so much a “boss in the waters”, but an abbreviation of Border and Offshore Submersible Sentry, which clearly indicates the use of this ship, combining the advantages of both surface and underwater structures. According to the current plans, it is to be 72 meters long, and its displacement is to reach 1,300 tons. The drive itself is to allow for almost 39 km / h.

Importantly, this is not just a quick concept, designed only to look good. The design was enriched with key and important structural elements, and so the BOSS received new lines with a wavy bow and tumblehome hull. These reduce the bank and make the ship a more stable platform for weapons, as well as reduce its radar signature, while allowing the sonar to take a better place for greater effects.

In terms of armament, Rubin provided the BOSS project with a second-generation automatic cannon, two guided missile launchers and four 324 mm torpedo tubes. In addition, it can act as a mother ship, thanks to two multi-purpose pressurized hangars for boats, on-board equipment or unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to the announcement, the winding can be used for anti-submarine exercises and training of crews of classic submarines. The BOSS project is developed as adaptable, thanks to which its modifications and variable characteristics allow us to offer a ship that meets the needs and requirements of customers to the maximum extent.
