Large retail chains accept bitcoin

Many retail giants in France will soon accept bitcoin, thanks to a new collaboration between East2PlayPayment and EasyWallet on the one hand, and Global POS on the other. This means that bitcoin will be available at around 30 retail chains in France, including big names such as Foot Locker, Decathlon, Conforama, Sephora and Intersport.

But stores do receive euros

Le Figaro writes that this has no negative consequences for the stores and also requires little effort. They receive euros because the bitcoin is converted to fiat currency after payment. This makes accounting simple and well-arranged.

Safe entry into the world economy 3.0

Global POS announced the collaboration with East2PlayPayment and EasyWallet during the Paris Retail Week. They call this a concrete step to safely enter the world economy 3.0. At this moment you can only pay with bitcoin (and euros). The company plans to expand to other cryptocurrencys in the future.

In fact, Global POS makes it easier for companies to accept bitcoin, without one of these stores having to manage BTC themselves.

Similar trends are also noticeable in the US and the Netherlands

Last year in May, crypto exchange Gemini and Flexa announced something similar in the United States. They have developed a QR-code app that allows payment providers, such as Apple Pay, to process bitcoin. Gemini then ensures that the bitcoins are immediately converted into dollars.
