Powercolor launches Devil 13 Dual Core Radeon R9 290X on Computex

The AMD Radeon R9 295X2 with dual Hawaii XT is the world’s fastest graphics card, which unlike the Asus ROG Ares II is cooled by a combined air and water cooler. Now the partner manufacturer Powercolor is taking the concept and replacing the hybrid solution with a more traditional air cooler.

It is a solid piece whose air cooling takes up three expansion places, to compare with two for the reference design of the Radeon R9 295X2, which also has a separate 120 mm radiator with fan. The fans in this case consist of three 90 mm models and Powercolor is said to have focused on low noise levels.

The Powercolor Devil 13 Dual Core R9 290X also comes with a solid back plate, which does not cover the entire back. Instead, it is a construction that only covers the most heat-generating components such as the power supply, while the open one will provide better air flow and thus more efficient cooling.

For the specifications, a total of 5,632 stream processors and 4 GB of GDDR5 memory per graphics processor (a total of 8 GB) are marked. The maximum clock frequency stays at 1,000 MHz and is slightly lower than 1,018 MHz for the Radeon R9 295X2. Instead, Powercolor is investing in overclocking the memory to 5,400 MHz, up from 5,000 MHz.

The graphics card comes with no less than four 8-pin PCI Express, which according to the ATX standard means that the graphics card can be powered by 675 watts. However, the official value of the card for power consumption is not clear.

The Powercolor Devil 13 Dual Core R9 290X will appear in stores soon at the recommended price of $ 1,499. It is identical to the Radeon R9 295X2, which in Swedish stores costs between SEK 11,999 and SEK 13,499. The package also includes the gaming mouse Razer Ouroboros to a value of SEK 999 including VAT.
