MOSCOW, 4 Oct — PRIME. The Pridnestrovian enterprise Tiraspoltransgaz paid Gazprom more than five million dollars through Moldovagaz, the head of the Moldovan state-owned company Vadim Cheban said on a telegram channel.
As specified, the funds went to pay for additional reservations and transportation of fuel for five months last and current year.
According to the report, Tiraspoltransgaz transferred the money to Moldovagaz, which transferred money to Gazprom.
At the same time, Cheban stressed that the payments will not affect the tariff for end consumers.
In February, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that Moldova’s total debt to Gazprom was about $7.5 billion, with a large proportion of this amount falling on Transnistria, which is not controlled by Chisinau. Tiraspol, in turn, said that it was ready to pay off a debt of more than seven billion dollars, but Chisinau did not give permission.
